WHITE ISLAND RADIUM.

Regarding the White Island radhntf telegram, Mr. Andrew' Gray, owner «i the island; furnishes the following i*«' formationr—"l have-had no direct tan* nmnication from the Cavendish Labor* tory, but have had a letter from Mt Galbraith, late of Anckland, stating that a sample of White Island kits water, obtained by the courtesy of lb,' Alexander, an Auckland solicitor, wail* on a yachting cruise, had been examin* ed at Cambridge by the Hon. B. 1 Sfcrntt, Professor of Physics. This sampil showed slight traces in solids of radium. This was in 1907, when radium M less valuable. I telegraphed to I friend to try to get a jar of water our* ing an excursion to-day from Opotilri, and I presume this got. about, and inspired the Auckland message ptrblishej to-night."
