SCHOOL EXAMS.

(To tile Editor.) Sir,—How is it that the Standard VI. children never get told the result of their examination until after the holidays? Could the Board of Education not see its way to the Sixth Standard examinations a week or two before the other classes? Many a boy and gir! depends on getting a certificate of proficiency, so as to be able to make a start at some profession or trade. Why have they to waste nearly two months? One of my eons had the chance of a good billet last December, hut lost it through not knowing if he had passed or not. Many a child is old enough to leave school afte.! it leaves Standard V., but the parents make an effort, and let it go through Standard V 1.,. co as to get a certificate of proficiency. —I am, etc., A MOTHER AND WIDOW.
