A LUCKY ESCAPE.
TAXI, DOWN A SHAFT. (Received 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, February 6. A man named Meadow, employed at a colliery in Staffordshire, pushed a tub iato the shaft under th.2 mistaken impresson that the cage was at the top. He fell with the tub "249 ft into water at the foot of the shaft, and was rescued uninjured.
