FARMERS' LAW IN NEW ZEALAND
(By William Jolliffe, Law Draftsman, Ferguson and Hicks, Wellington.)
This valuable addition to the series of "Annotated Statutes," edited by Mr Jolliffe, the Government law draftsman, will be found most serviceable to country settlers and local governing bodies. The object aimed at was to collect together in one volume the many enactments that have special interest to dairy farmers, agriculturists and pastoralists. The volume contains the provisions of the Land Act and the Land for Settlements Act, the basis on which the bulk of the farming land in New Zealand is held. It also contains the Dairy Industry Act, the Fencing Act, tha Impounding Act, the Noxious Weeds iAet, the Orchard and Garden Diseases Act, the Stock Act, and so much, of the Public Works Act as enables the owner of land to protect himself on the compulsory taking of his land for public works. In addition to these are numerous extracts from various Acts of interest to farmers. The plan adopted in this series is to reprint the Acts exactly as they appear in the Government Printer's copiee, adding in a smaller type and in their appropriate place the provisions of amending Acts, regulations, notes of cases and editorial comments, the whole forming in each case a complete statement of the statute law on the subject. A full index to each volume enables the reader readily to ascertain the law on the point he requires to look up. Ii view of the eminent qualifications of the editor for carrying out this work, we need scarcely say that it has been ably done. The printing and binding are uniform with the volumes of annotated statutes isBued by the same firm of publishers. In connection with these volumes, there have now been issued the "First Annual Supplements" of "Local Government in Boroughs" and "Local Government in Counties," edited by Mr Jolliffo. These comprise the provisions of statutes passed in 1909, the editor's comments thereon, and additional notes of cases.
