CRAWFORD'S DEPARTURE.

LONDON, October 30. J. N. Crawford, the well-known cricketer, has sailed for Adelaide. Hβ hopes to play in first-class cricket in Australia this season. J. N. Crawford, who was a member of the M.C.C. team which toured Australia in 1907-8, is coming to Australia because of his disagreement with the Surrey C.C. He was captain of the eleven, but refused to lead the side against the Australians because Lees and Rusby, two players whom he considered absolutely necessary to the side, were not included. He was subsequently notified that he would not again be invited to play for Surrey, hence his migration to Australia. He is a fine all-round cricketer, and will greatly strengthen South Australia, when the Sheffield Shield matches are played.
