ACCIDENT OR DESIGN ! (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An inquest was held to-day upon the death of Vincent Ferrara, who died from drinking lysol. Witness, an Italian, had resided i». Auckland, where his wife is. The doctor said he had asked deceased before he had died if he had swallowed lysol, and the answer was "Tfcs, I did." A verdict was returned that deceased died from the effects of poison, but there was not sufficient evidence to show whether taken accidentally or intentionally, the coroner having come to that conclusion owing to the fact that a small flask of whisky was found in or on a chest of drawers beside a bottle of lysol. A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. WELLINGTON, Friday. A young man named Clark, aged 19, formerly a railway porter at Petone, met with a serious accident this morning. Hβ was employed by a timber mill firm in the Upper Hutt district, and was driving a. wagon laden with three and a-half tons of timber from the mill to the Upper Hutt station, when he inadvertently dropped the reins, and in endeavouring to . pick them -up he overbalanced and fell to the ground, one of the wheels passing over his body. He was picked up, and assistance was rendered, and later on he was brought to the Hospital. Hie injuries are reported to be serious, but he is conscious. TWO LADIES INJURED. HOKITIKA, Friday. A somewhat serious accident occurred this afternoon. Mrs. Paul Renton and Mrs. Grant, the wife of the local stationmaster, were out driving in a trap, when, on turning off the Arahura River bridge, one of the wheels went off the road. The horse became frightened on account of one of the shafts being driven into its body, and both ladies were thrown out of the trap. Mrs. Renton received a severe shaking, aDd rather serious internal injuries.
