CROWN LANDS BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Crown Lanus Board was held tuls moruing. Mr. C. C. Goldsmith (Commissioner) piesided, and there were also present: Messrs J. Trounson, A. B. Harris, Al. W. Armstrong, and Capt. Swlndley. Te Awamutu Church Site.—lt was decided, in reply to an application for an additional three acres iv connection with the Roman Catholic site in tne Teasdale settlement, to reject the application, the church authorities already having two acres. Approving Mortgages.—A communication was received from the Under-Secretary ior Lands suggesting to the Board that In approving of mortgages for land for settlement leases, one of the conditions of transfer should contain a provision for repayment of portions of the principal on giving such notice to the mortgage as may be deemed reasonable. This was approved. Kauri Gum Reserves.—The Board approved a proposal to recommend the Issue of an Order-ln-Council declaring sections east 211 and 212, parish of Pukeatua, of 120 acres, no longer subject to the Kauri Gum Industry Act, 1908, as the land no longer contains gum. In regard to a suggestion that the Board should lift the kauri gum "reserve" off section 5, Block XII., IMotatau S.D., the ranger's recommendaitlon that the section be allowed to remain a kauri gum reserve, as It still contains payable gum, was agreed to. Expenditure of Thirds. —The Board approves of the following scheme for the expenditure of thirds: Waiklekle Road Board £52 13/11, Awaklno County Council (per Roads Department) £104, Mangawal Road Board f3O 19/, Waipu Road Board £56 4/2, Whangaret County Council £118 19/11, Rodney County Council £36 19/7. , Opening a Reserve.—The Under-Secretary for Lands forwarded a copy of a petition addressed to the Acting-Prime Minister from Messrs. Dittner and IT others, praying for the removal of the reservation from off about 3000 acres of scenic reserve on the Te Puke-Ngawaro road. The ranger reported that some 3000 acres could be •thrown open for selection, and this was agreed to by the members of the Board.

Te Akau Lands.—lt was decided that the I schedule of Te Akau lands be approved of by the Board for opening for application as follows, at the values given, viz.: The rural sections to be opened; under Part 111., Land Act, and the Mangatf Village lots to be-of-fered partly by auction and partly by renewal lease (ove/ the homestead allotments), the area*" under one acre by auction for building? sites, and over one acre under renewaljfle lease' for workers' hold--1 ings. *"' Milling Tifnber Lots.—lt was agreed that the following milling timber be submitted for sale qfc the lots as undernoted: Section, Block XJ.. Coromandel. and Block IV.,.Has•tlngs 4 and 5. Block V., and secBlock IV., Hastings; part Block _itl:, Hastings S.D. (Anderson's Creek No. 2); part Block IV., Hastings S.D. (Mill Creek); part Blocks IX. and XIII., Hastings (Five-Mile Creek); part Slocks 11., 111., VI., and VIL, Talrua S.D. (Stoney Creek). It was al<-o decided that the kauri J timber on the undermentioned Crown lands [be submitted for saJe by public tender: jCrown land parts Blocks IV. and VIII., Whangaroa S.D.; part Block VIII., Whangaroa S.D.; Bection 3, Block VIII., Whangaroa S.D.; section 5, Block VIII., Whangaroa S.D.: section 1, Block 111., Kaeo IS.D.; and part Blocks XL, XII., XV., XVI., Kaeo S:D.
