■ G. Brown, manager of the Grand Hotel at Ro-torua, arrived at the Royal Hotel by the express last night. Mr. Thomas Low, of Wanganui, arjived at the Grand Hotel this morning, having come up by the through express. Sheild, of Hawke's Bay, left the Central Hotel this morning, proceeding to Rotorua by the express. Mr. Breakell, engineer for the Piako drainage works, who has been staying iat the Royal Hotel, left last evening for Thames. Messrs. S. and J. Bolton, of Wood-ville, who are staying at the Central Hotel, leave by Sunday night's express on their return south. The Rev. Mr. Heron, of Cambridge, who has been appointed curate to the vicar of Petone, will take up his new duties in October. Mr. G. A. Findlay, of Dunedin, was a passenger by the Main Trunk express; this morning for Auckland. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Messrs. G. Tait and J. Mills, of Napier, ■who have been staying at the Royal Hotel, ileft last evening by the express on their return home. Mr. and Mrs. A. Crawford, of Wellington, who have been spending a fortnight at the Grand Hotel, leave by this evening's express for Marton. [ Captain W. Nicholson, one of the evangelists connected with the phenomenally successful Ghap- , man-Alexander mission in Australia, and ' Mr. Hemminger, a singer associated with the mission, will visit New Zealand in August or September. Mr. J. Rowe, Mayor of Onehunga, returned this morning from Wellington by the Main Trunk express. Mr. Rowe attended the annual conference of the New Zealand Trotting Association at Wellington, and was elected president ' for tbe ensuing year. Mr. J. J. Virgo, secrotary of the Sydney Young Men's Christian Association, and one of the most notable workers in the organisation, is visiting New Zealand in September. He will leave Sydney for Auckland on September Ist, and intends I making a three-weeks' tour of the Dominlion, visiting Rotorua, Christchurch, DuaI edin, and finally Wellington. Mr. J. Warren, who, after holding the position of chief storekeeper on the ; Queen-street wharf, is assuming charge of the weighbridge at the wharf, was to-day presented with a gold watch and. chain and a smoker's companion by the forwarding agents and Harbour Board staff. The presentation was made by Mr. E. W. Burgess, traffic inspector, in the presence of a large gathering. Mr. W. B. White, who has for many years been accountant and secretary for Winstone, limited, left yesterday, via the Main Trunk railway, for Ha-Wera, where he will in future reside, having been appointed one of the New Zealand representatives of the well-known London -firm of Lovell and Christmas. Priof to his departure he was presented with a handsome gold watch by the directors '. of Messrs. Winstone, Limited, and a case of pipes by the office staff.
