NORTHCOTE SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Northcote School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Thursday night. Present: Messrs .las. Maginness (chairman), A. E. UreenRlade, .1. McKay. E. V. Fitzpatrick, A. W. Tyer, and 3. P. McPhail (secretary). Mr A. Taylor reported that the number of pupils on the roll was 440, but the average attendance, owing to tbe prevalence of an epidemic of chicken-pox, had been interfered with, being 375.9. A statement ln connection with the joiut picnic of the Fruitgrowers' Association and the Northcote School showed that there had been a total deficit of 10/ which was equally shared by each party. The picnic prize fund of the school was in credit £7 13/9. The bal-ance-sheet to 31st Mar.-h Included total receipts £102 12/1, and the expenditure left a credit balance of £16 11/9, though the secretary explained there were some accounts to come in yet which would substantially reduce this balance. Accounts amounting to £4 10/8 were passed for payment. The annual report for presentation to the annual meeting of housenolders on the 26th inst. was drawn up aud adopted.
