CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The golf championship of Canterbury was won this afternoon by the present holder, Mr. T. C. Rutherford, with scores of 77 and 70. Mr. H. C. Smith was ruuuer-up, with 79 and 79. OKOROIRE TOURNAMENT. . j (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OKOROIRE, Saturday. | The Okoroire golf tournameut opened on Friday, when representatives from the Auckland Mauawatu, Palmerston. Hamil-| ton, Waiiii. Urej-mouth, and Kotorua Golf Clubs took part. Tbe weather was showery in the forenoon, but cleared off before the mixed foursomes started in the afteruoon.l The ladles' gold medal competition was! won by Miss K. Clark, with a score of 00, Miss Jean Richmond being second with a score of 114. Other scores were: Mrs. Louis, Selfert. 114; Miss Bailie. 115; Miss Jay,! 110.
The 18-hole bogey competition for the trophy presented by Mr. J. w. Hall was wou by Mr. Morpeth, with a score of four up. Dr. Bamford was second with a score of three up. The following are below bogey:—Messrs. S. Allen, one; E. A. Dargaville, one; Louis Seifert, two; 'W. 11. Heather, three; D. McCormack. four: A. Hanua, four; Thornton Jackson, four; Pat. In the afternoon the mixed foursome competition was played for prizes presented by Mrs. Richmond, which was won by Miss K. Clark and Mr. P. Ilanna, with a score of 01 net. Other scores: Mrs. Bruce and AY. Heather, 04 net; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Seifert 05 net; Miss Jay and T. Simcox, 07; Miss M. Clark and G. Morpeth, 07; Mr. and Mrs. P. W.
