THE MARENGO TRAGEDY.
JUSTIFIABLE HOMICIDE. SYDXEY, April 9. At the inquest on the body of the man Salmon, who was shot by his daughter at Marengo on Wednesday, the daughter, who had been arrested on a charge of murder, deposed that her father had threatened to kill her mother because the latter had refused to take some medicine he wished to give her. He followed her out of the kitchen, and witness, shortly after, hearing her mother scream for help, g.it. a revolver, and found her father holding her mother by the throat. Witness, fearing that her mother would be killed, shot her father.
A verdict of justifiable homicide was returned.
Salmon resided for some years in Xew Zealand, returning to Sydney several months ago.
