Special services were held at St. Patrick's Cathedral this morning in connection with the celebration of Holy Thursday. Pontifical High Mass was celebrated by Bishop Lenihan, who also blessed the holy oils. The Bishop, who acted as celebrant, was assisted by the Eight Rev. Mgr. Gillan, assistant priest, Frs. Holbrook, master of ceremonies. Furlong and Doyle, Deacon and SubDeacon Meagher and Wright, deacons to the throne Edge, Meagher and Williams, deacons to the Holy Oils, Frs. Tormey and Buckley were also present. The Bishop placed the Host in the Altar of Repose, which was beautifully decorated. This evening there will be a tenebrae service and sermon by Fr. Edge, and to-morrow the Bishop will celebrate mass of the preianctified, a feature of which will be the kissing of the cross by the faithful. A tenebrae service will be held in the evening, when a sermon on the Passion will be preached by the Rev. Fr. Tigar, O.P. The Rev. Fr. Wright has been appointed custodian of the Holy Oils at the Cathedral.

The Remuera Polo Club hold their annual sports meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday, the 17th inst....when a good programme of events will be submitted.
