Among the remits from the Otamatea County to be forwarded to the Northern Counties Conference, to be held at Dargaviile during the current month, are ■the following: The need of urging upon the Government the speedy opening up of native lands and the individualising of the same for rating purposes; also that the Government be asked to expedite construction of the North Auckland Nlain Trunk Railway, and define station.-, so that local bodies may be enabled to locate permanent roads; and, further, that the Government be urged to ;ii"t all waste Crown lands in the north thrown open for settlement as »oon a* ]}0.--ihle.
