STEAMER PAEROA AGROUND.

TrTAMKS, this day. The steamer Paeroa, which has tern" porarily..taken up,the running of the s„. Taniwha in the Ohinemuri-Auckland - r trade,' ran a-ground on a sand bank .nridway between Kopu and Turua last — -night;- the -mishap- being attributed to the fact that,' in -the absence of an elecc trie searchlight, the steersman was unable to pick up the beason. A good deal .of inconvenience; was experienced by several passengers, who have prevented from connecting with other lines of communication *t Auckland. To-day, only one boat was available, and this was lent to rime passengers,' who pulled to Kopu, and, catching the downward train, were enabled to proceed to Auckland by the Wakatere. A good many "" 'other passengers were obliged to Temain on board. The captain expects that the vessel will be floated on the next tide.
