It is reported that the whole of the Wangunui stream, abovo Taiunarumii has become thicdy impregnated witli sulphur. Trout are to be seen by the score in a dying condition. One native alone found no less than eight, quite dead. The recent uphteaval of Ngaurunoe is evidently the cause of this. Ngauruhoe is still in a troubled state. Archdeacon Grace, who has arrived in Wellington from Tokaami and Waiouru, says that he noticed what appeared to be fumaroles on the slopes of the mountain. The volcano was very active on Monday and Tuesday. The Archdeacon thinks the appearance of the fumaroles indicates an altogether new development of the volcano. The Hat House.
