John Barker Huntington, a labourer, about 35 years of age, dropped dead while working on a farm near Canowindra. Deceased was only sft 6in tall, but the doctor who made a post mortem stated that his heart was the size of a bullock's. There was a crowded attendance at Mr J. Thovnes' weekly land sale this day, and the bidding was brisk. The sale' opened with the properties in the estate of the late Mrs. Harris, a«d for an allotment in Cobden-street, having 33 feet frontage by 108 ft. 6in., with a double house of 5 rooms each erected thereon, £430 was paid. An allotment in Camer-on-street, Onehunga, 100 ft. by 234 ft., and 4- roomed cottage brouhht £150. A smaller allotment in Cameron-street, with ao building on it, was sold for £67 10/. The residence and grounds at Cheltenham Beach produced good competition, but was withdrawn at £1150. For the residence in Clonbern-road, Remuera £650 was bid. The property in Hamilton brought strong competition, and eventually the block of 11 acres lr. and 2p., Hamilton R'ast, was sold for £506 16/3. For 2 roods 36 perchee in Hamilton West, having 117 ft. frontage to Vietoriti-atreet, bidding was brisk, and it was sold for £335. For the cottage in Walters-road, £400 was offered and refused; for a property having 66ft. frontage to_ Pictonstreet, with 5-roomed house, £4SO was bid at auction and refused, but this wae sold privately af tei; the B ale fog £ §00. j
