HOOKEY.

Hockeyites are busily engaged overhauling material for the coming season. It is anticipated that a record season will ensue, as already two new senior teams and several junior clubs have formed. The Association's annual meeting is fixed for Tuesday, April 6th, and players are anxiously awaiting the committee's report. The local representatives are to tour the Dominion, and a hard battle must be fought for inclusion in the team. It will be of interest to hockeyites to know that the Whangarei-ites are once more to take active part in the game, and it would be most advisable if a local team could make an early trip to the northern town. The Referees' Association hold their annual meeting in the Sports Club on Monday, March 29th, and any intending members are requested to be present. Owing to removal, and various other causes, the membership of this most useful body will suffer, and old players and enthusiasts will be welcomed in the ranks. The local Teferees deserve great praise for the efficient manner in which they have discharged their duties, and last season's record of controlling seven out of eight representative matches, especially when the referees were selected by the visitors, is one to be proud of. V.M.C.A. winners of the second and third grade championships last season have already held their annual meeting, and judging by the enthusiasm displayed, will most likely have a bid for senior premiership honours. Ponsonby have fixed March 31st for the date of their annual meeting, while most of the other clubs will follow at an early date.
