A meeting was held in Wellington a few days ago, convened hy Mrs. Hislop (Mayoress), with the view, of raising funds to provide something to commemorate the bravery of the stewardesses of the Penguin. It was decided that a stewardess',, bed should be placed in the Wellington Hospital. The .bed will •be known a# the Hope-Jacobs bed, the names being those of the stewardesses. Mr 3. Hislop has communicated with Mrs, Grey (Mayoress of Auckland), giving particulars of the movement, and stating subscriptions would be gladly received. The amount of tbe subscriptions has been fixed at 1/-, with a maximum of. 2/6. The lists will be called in on March 31. £40 is about the sum required. Those desirous of subscribing may communicate with the Town Clerk.
