New Sylvia.—The rise on the reef in the north end of the low level is up 07ft, at which point, though not Bhowing quite so much refractory ore, it is of good, value, and there are indications that the whole width of the reef is not in the rise, blocks of quartz aud refractory ore being frequently noticeable ln the footwall. This is especially the case where the wall is of a broken nature, und ro disturb tb* ore at present would mean delay in rising. It Can all be taken out when stoplng. The nssay value of the ore in the rise for the past week was £4 3/5. Waiotahi. —Stoplng on the dropper from the winze below No. 5 level is producing fair crushing dirt. This block, however.' will soon be exhausted. In the second I stope on the dropper above this level the reef is about lain in width. In the drive west, No. 5 reef shows no improvement. The drive south ou' the crossleader is in a distance of 3ity_ but nothing of uny value has yet Deen met with. Stoplng on the dropper above this level Is. being continued, and good colours of gold are seen in the quartz broken. The rise on the hanglngwall rib of the main reef from the back of the stopes has holed | through to Mo.'4 level. At No. 4 level stoplng on the hanglngwall rib Is in hand as usual, and. although the leader Is small, good dabs and colours of gold are occasionally seen. Tbe crosscut east from the footn-nll of the main reef Is lv a distance of lUOft. Waitangi Consolidated —The rise at the western section of the low level is up 77ft, and the country Is all that can be desired for gold. At No. 2 level the western drive is along 104 ft from the main crosscut. A hole was knocked through Into Crelghton's drive. There will be about 50ft of the old drive to clean up to connect with the main level.

Champion.—Rain started falling yesterday, and crushing has been recommenced. The engine is running satisfactorily. The contractors have made a start at the new winze and are getting along well. Two men are at work In the battery level. Now that the rain has started, a few more men will be put on to push this work on as quickly os possible. Magnet.—The rise on the hauglugwall branch of the main reef is up 69ft. The formation averages 8 Inches and Is heavily mlnerallsed. When breaking-down a few strong colours of ogold were seen in the stone. The reef In the drive averages 18 inches. . _ New Waitekauri. —The ore ln 'the winze at the Horn level Is looking a little better. The lode is about 4ft wlue,- but Is hard to break and not payable.
