IA tobacconist and hairdresser named W. .T. Forsythe was charged at the Cbristchurch Police Court on Saturday with having sold alcoholic liquor to Lawrence McGill ou March 2. The case for the prosecution was that McGill and another man named Hayes went to accused's shop after the hotels were closed, and on asking for something to drink were each given a glass of whisky, for which they paid Is. The accused stated that he gave the men bay rum instead of whisky and charged them t"he amount named for it. The Magistrate said he was not satisfied with the evidence, especially that given by Hayes, and dismissed the case.
