"Compensation for damages. From R. J. Campbell," is the inscription on a> frying-pan just presented iby the pastor of the City Temple to a man in Harrogat*. The nun and his wife were co absorbed in reading a sermon by Mr. Campbell that they forgot all about some food that was cooking on the fire. Not only wee the food spoilt, but the pan was burnt through. The man wrote and told Mr. Campbell of the incident, and the rev. gentleman thereupon sent biva a new frying-pan inscribed as above.
