A BAND IN KILTS

The Ki' ties' Band, which will appear in the Opera House on Monday evening, played a most successful engagement at Honolulu while en route to Australia. The Hawaiian Band gave them a fine reception, and the two giant drum majors made an impression upon the native element, who sent runners inland to have their tallest men appear by way of contrast. Upon the occasion of Prince Pu Lun's visit to the World's Fair, St. Louis, in 1904, as the representative of the Chinese Government, where he was the royal visiting guest of honour, he and his royal suite were so delighted with the fine playing and.martial bearing of the Kilties Band, who were especially engaged as the musical organisation of the Exposition, that he —in his royal position as heir-apparent to the throne of China —invited them to visit the Orient, and assured them a royal welcome at Pekin and the principal cities of China. This invitation will now be accepted by the Kilties, who contemplate visiting Japan, China, India, and Russia, in the order named, prior. to their return to Great Britain and Ireland.
