TEACHERS' SALARIES.
WELLINGTON. Friday. The following telegram has been sent out to the several education boards by the Education Department:—"Regarding teachers' salaries: Mini mum salaries, plus £5, will be paid as from January 1 next, to each teacher whose present salary is under the minimum provided by the scale. In the case of new future appointments, salaries will commence at the minimum, and teachers will receive a yearly increase of £5 in terms of section 7, subsection (4), until the maximum is reached. Other teachers, whose present salaries are not below the minimum, but are under the maximum, will each receive an increase of £5 per annum, as from January 1 and a yearly increase of £5 until they also reach tbe maximum. A detailed table showing the salaries for 1909 in the several grades of schools will be issued shortly.
