WON BY A FRENCHMAN. , SEVEN BEAT DORANDO'S TIME. (deceived 8.48 ajn.) LONDON, October 11. Eighty-nine professional long-distance runners started in the Marathon race promoted by tne "Evening News," over the Marathon course from " Windsor to the Stadium, precisely the same route as that followed at the Olympic games being adopted. Siret, a French runner, won comfort- , ably by nearly three minutes. He covered the 28 miles in 2 hours 37 mm. 23 sees. White, an Irish competitor, was second to finish, his time being 2 hours 40 mm. 15 sees. Seven runners finished the course ins:de the time recorded by Dorando, and all passed the post comparatively fresh and running strongly.
