EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.
The 13th week of the second competition promoted by the North Island Egg-layin" Association, at Cambridge, concluded on Kriduy last. The following particulars are supplied by the secretary: The number of eggs laid during the week was 1538, an average of 23.30 per pen The total number of eggs laid since the lath of May is 12,294; an average of 186.27 per pen. lhe highest layings for the week were:— IJght breeds: "Walknto Independent," White Leghorns. 33; Harrison and Grafton. White leghorns, . 32; C. D. Beatson, White Leghorns. 30; W. G. Carr, White Leghorns, 30. Heavy breeds: Jack Tudehope. White Orpingtons, 34; Misses K. and B. Holden, White Wyandottes, 32; Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, White Orp!>'J Bt( 2r''-, 31: G ' H ' Scott - stlTer Wyandottes. 31; Waikato Central Agricultural Association. Black Orpingtons. 30: Auckland A. and P. Association. Black Orpingtons, 30. The lending pens to date arc:—Light breeds (all White Leghorns): Harrison and Grattan. 328: A. It.
