WHAKGABEX. At the Theatre Royal on Friday night the Howard Vernon Company presented th°ir musical comedy. "A Trip tn Chinatown," to a well filled house. The performance was the best that has been seeu In Whangarei for some time, both singing and acting being of a distinctly superior character. The irresistible humour of th« piece appealed greatly to the audience, the ripples of langater being sustained from start to finish. In the part of Welland Stronc. Mr Vcrnnn had unlimited scope foi his abilities, while Miss Vinia de Loitle, as the widow. Mrs Guyer. had a splendid reception.
