SIR WALTER SCOTT'S XIGHT. St. Andrew's Society last evening celebrated the anniversary of Sir Walter Scott's birth by a concert and social gathering in the Choral Hall. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, the atte'jiiame was large and the gathering partit successful. The president (Mr. J. M. Mennie) occupied the chair. The evening opened with "The March o' the Pipers." and then came a chorus by the St. Andrew's choral class, an address on •'Some Characteristics of Fir Walter Scott,'" by Mr. J. Robertson, sons by Miss Muflge, dance by Mr. R. Gardiner. ;ind comic sons by Mr. J. McConnell. After rofreshiucnLs had been discussed, further items wore contributed I>y the pipers, Mr. C. Mountain. Mrs. McConnell and Mrs. Rouse. Mr. ('. McMillan, sword dance by the Misses Gardiner and Barber, and a chorus by the choral class.
