SOUTHERN COURTS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court were continued this afternoon before Mr. Justice Dcnn.ston. John Hogan (aged 33), on charges of forging and uttering, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. William Cameron was indicted on two counts; first, of breaking and entering the premises of Koss and Glendining on January 12 last; secondly, in respect of having been found on the premises of James Lilley. Sydenham, vith intent to commit a crime. He was sentenced to five years' imprisonment, to run concurrently with sentences of four years that prisoner was serving. DUNEDIN, Monday. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court were commenced this morning, true bills being found against all the accused except Elizabeth Evelyn McLcod, charged with concealment of birth.
Daisy Edwards received a sentence of six months' imprisonment with hard labour for permitting an illegal operation to be performed upon her. it was indicated by the counsel for the defence that accused had since the proceedings in the Lower Court made a statement of all the facts to the police. His Honor, in passing sentence, pointed out that the offence was a serious one. and .-aid tho term of imprisonment was not so much intended as a punishment to accused as a warning to others.
