A ROUGH VOYAGE.

GALES AND HEAVY SEAS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PORT CHALMERS this day. The Waimate. which arrived from London after a trip lasting- 59 days, had an eventful passage. Four days after passing the Cape she encountered a south-east gale of hurricane force, accompanied by heavy seaa, which broke on board, the decks being a\va3h fore and aft. Many of the cabins were flooded, and the vessel was practically for eight hours. A succession of westerly gales, which followed, delayed progress considerably, and on one occasion the door of the stewards' quarters was stove in, and the occupants were washed out of their bunks. Fortunately, none of the crew were injured, and the ship herself suffered no serious damage.
