BURGLARY AT GISBORNE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, this day. In the Police Uourt to-day, Edward' Bonaface, Joseph Johnson, and James Kecgan were charged with having burglarised the store of Robert ColeDrook, at Waerengahika, and stolen therefrom a cash box containing £10 and £21, also cheques and a deed box. Mr.| Colebrook deposed that during the night his dwelling was entered, and keys were extracted from the pockets of his clothes hanging on the bed. Next morning he found the store adjoining his residence rifled. Frederick Parsons, a dairyman, with whom accused resided on the night of ■the burglary, deposed that Johnson admitted next morning that he had been to Colebrook's, and subsequently he received a Tetter from Johnson stating that he and Keegan were in prison at Christchurch awaiting trial on five charges of robbery under arms and two for house-breaking. He added that he did not think toe had a chance of getting off. Another witness said Bonaface admitted having participated in the theft, but under compulsion, being covered by a revolver held by Johnson, who, after the roßbery, gave him £2 out of £19 taken. . The case is proceeding.
