WAIKATO ITEMS.
YOUXG MAN SHOT BY A COMPANION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A young man named Baker was brought to the hospital from. Manawarii to-day, having been shot by a companion. The extent of his injuries is unknown, but they are not believed to be dangerous. A man named Duggan was arrested in Hamilton on a warrant charging him with having stolen a coat in Wellington. Waharoa settlers of the district under the auspices of the local branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation tendered a public social to Mr. J. A. Young in honour of his candidature for the Tauranga seat. The proceedings were of an enthusiastic character, amd a resolution was unanimously carried expressing a hope that Mr. Young would represent them in Parliament. It is understood a, Government building will be erected in Hamilton shortly for the accommodation of Government officers, at a cost of £2000. Frankton settlers have decided to foTm a Drainage Board, for the purpose of dealing with the western ward of the town district, and a portion of Hamilton borough contiguous thereto.
