SOUTHERN COURTS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.* NAPIER, Monday. Opening the Supreme Court to-day, Mr. Justice Cooper congratulated the district on the lightness of the calendar, which comprised only five cases. "No, bill" was returned in a charge of indecent offence against William McGill. William Matthews came up for sentence for making a false declaration before a registrar under the Marriage Act. Prisoner pleaded that he was under the influence of drink, and had been so some three weeks. A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed. Wm. Cameron, who is serving a term of four years, was sentenced to a month for using obscene language. NAPIER, this day. William Cameron appeared at the Supreme Court for sentence to-day. Prisoner said that other charges, had l)f:en lain agaiust him in Christchurch of 'breaking and entering, and he wished to plead guilty to these. Mr. Justice Cooper said that he could not do anything in connection with the other charges. The .matter would' have to be dealt with in Christchurch. Prisoner was further remanded to enable the police to furnish a full record of convictions. / V; 1 ,_ WELLINGTON, this day.
