She > is an iron sailing vessel of 1274 tons, and > was built in 1878. A Sydney exchange reports that the bar- • ques Rona and Manurewa, both from Kai- ' para, N;Z., arrived at Sydney on the loth, ' the former with 503,830 ft of kauri timber, part of which is consigned to Newcastle, and the latter, with 280,170 ft of kauri. . Heavy gales wete encountered on the way across, but no damage resulted. Two large shacks, measuring 12ft, were captured by the crew of the Rona~. AN OCEAN BACE. The barques Jessie Craig and Louisa Craig arrived from Melbourne this morning ' within ten minutes of each other. The Louisa Craig left Melbourne on June 7th, the • Jessie Craig on the 12th. Strong southerly to S.E. winds were experienced on the way " across the Tasman Sea, and baffling winds wereV'met with on the coast. The Jessie ' . Craig-drew up with the Louisa Craig outside morning, this being the " firsts occasion on which either vessel had sighted the other since leaving Melbourne. The barques came up the Gulf fairly well together, and both anchored outside the reef last night, owing to the thick fog. They were under way again about daylight, and reached the anchorage In the harbour about half-past eight. The Jessie Craig made the passage from Melbourne in about ten days, and thus beats the Louisa Craig by five days.
