WESTRALIA'S NARROW ESCAPE

HEADING FOR THE ROCKS. IN A THICK FOG. (Received 10-6 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. During a heavy fog on the coast yesterday the Huddart-Parker steamer Westralia, from Tasmania to Sydney, had a narrow escape of being totally wrecked. When the fog lifted for a moment the steamer was found to be running straight for the rocks near Port Hacking, outside Sydney Heads. With prompt action she was swung clear, but her stern bumped the bottom twice heavily.
