STAR OF NEWMARKET LODGE OF DRUIDS. The seventh anniversary of tbe above lodge was celebrated last evening with a smoke concert. The hall was tastefully decorated for the ot-casioa, aud lucre was.a large attendance of members and visitorsMr J. S. Dickson, P.P.JrVI presided, The following toasts were honoured: - "The King," "The Lucius." "The Grand Lodge of the North Islam]," "Founders of the Newmarket Lodge," "The Visitors,"
"Newmarket Lodge,'' and "The Chairman." Musical items were rendered by the following: Messrs Thomas, Greeustreot, Thompson, Martin, Sinclair, Brothers, Newton, aud Bush. '_ During the evening a presentation of a past arch diploma was made to Bro. Hampton. P. A. ' • ..-• EUCHRE AND BRIDGE PARTY. A highly successful progressive euchre aud bridge party was held at the Choral Hull last, night under the auspices of the New Zealand Society for •the Protection of Women ana Children, and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. There was a large attendance, and the games were much enjoyed, while the beautiful decorations added to the gaiety ot the scene. The prizes for the euchre aud bridge wore given by Mesdames Louis Myers. Coleman, McDowell, Benjamin, M-cCosh Clark, and Miss Oouthwaite. The games were in' charge of Mesdannes Ratlibone and Devore, aud Mrs. Benjamin supervised the supper tables. The ladies' committee was as follows: Mesdames N. A. Nathan (vice-president), Alexander. Benjamin, Brett, Baume, F. E Bauuic, Bedford, Bloomtiekl, Coleman, Corbett, Moss Davis, Devore, Dargavllle Holland, Goldic. McDowell, Louis Myers, A. Myors, L. <_>. Nathan, Nelson, Parr.' St! Clair, ScotflP A. Tayler, Thome, Rathbone, Hougutou, Grelgg, Culling, aud Misses OuUiwalte, Connolly, and Porter. The prizewinners were as follows: Euchre Miss Moss Davis and Mr. Gr Tuck: bridgeMisses Preece. Freeman, Jordan and Davey An enjoyable dancing programme was gone through during the evening, to music supplied by Marriage's orchestra. The success of the entertainment was due in lar~> measure to Mrs. Alfred Nathan. °
