Union, appearing in your issue of Saturday last, expressing the appreciation* o| hie Union and himself of my efforts as chairman of the Special Conciliation Board in connection with., the settlement of the recent slaughtermen's dispute. As he suggests that I should be asked) to act as chairman of the Conciliation Board in the tramway dispute,. I desire immediately to state that even if both sides asked mc to act, I could not see my wax clear to do. so on of my time being so much occupied by my municipal duties and matters in connection-with tht forthcoming visit of the American fleet. —I am, etc., '. ~ •> .
