LONGFORD, Wednesday.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by Lady Ward, and Messrs. R. McKenzie and Colvin, M.P.'3, arrived at Murcnison township, Central Buller, to-night. On his way up the Buller Valley Sir Joseph received a number of deputations. He was received here by a brass band, and the schbool children were drawn up in line, there being a large assemblage of the inhabitants. Later the party were entertained at a social, and in response to the toast of the Ministry the Prime Minister delivered a speech, in which he gave interesting particulars of the development of the West Coast. His reference to the measures that had been taken to prevent the inrush of Asiatics was specially appreciated by the audience. At the conclusion of thei address a vote of thanks and confidence in the Ministry was unanimously passed.
The party will proceed to Nelson tomorrow, and thence to Kaikoura on Friday.
