MELBOURNE, this day.

In the House of Representatives strong action was urged in dealing with the -barges of corruption. It is alleged that some votes were bought while the oil duties were under consideration. A sum of one thousand is mentioned « having been paid by the Standard fiil Company- Another assertion is that the money, was paid for lobbying purjoses. J"- 9.31 a,m.j; -. MELBOURNE, this day. JJr. Deakin explained that the Select Conunittee which had been appointed to deal with the matter would recommend a simpler method of dealing with offenders of this character. He declared that he vas satisfied that there was no foundation for the charges.
