Mr. and Mrs. Kaber Harrison, who came here from Londou with a metropolitan reputation, gave.the lirst of a series of lecturerecitals at St. Andrew's Hall last night The study and cultivation of elocution are the particular mission of -Mr. Harrison,- and . last eveniug he introduced himself with a half-hour introductory talk. The meaning nnd aims of elocution were defined, and the value of its study (or those whose occupations depend- more or less upon the voice, while the lack of elocution as exemplified in the uncultivated voice and the disabilities under which its possessor labours, were contrasted -with the powers .held by the thoroughly trained voice for interpreting thought and cmotiou. following this enjoyable discourse was a programme of elocutionary and other items. Beerbohni's monologue', "An April Shower," was contributed by Mrs. Kaber Harrison, who received, with Mr. Harrison,.further enthusiastic applause in their fine rendering of tha nuarrel scene from Sheridan's "School for Scandal." Piano solos. "Hondo in C Minor.., (Chopin) and "Two Humofeskeu" (Dvorak), ■ played liy Miss Alison M. Batger, were warmly appreciated, as was Mr. '1. Lane Wilson - * tonor voice in two "Elizabethan Lyrics." The second of the series will take place liext Wednesday.
