ARBITRATION COURT.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. ' The Arbitration Court opened here today. About 20 breaches of various awards were set down for hearing, also a couple of compensation. T. Harvie, laundry proprietor, was fined £10 and costs for breach of the drivers' award in employing a youth as a driver who had not attained the stipulated age. The Court held that the breach had been deliberate. The Court was engaged nearly all this morning with an alleged breach of the flaxmiUers' award, Geo. Craw being charged with having deducted 15/ per week from men's board and lodging, the maximum amount under award being 14/. The defence was that the catering business was the property of the cook at the mill, who paid Craw £2 per week for the use of his premises. Further, that the 15/ was for board and lodging, whereas the 14/ allowed under the award, was for board only. Decision was reserved.
