VISIT OF THE AMERICAN FLEET.
{To the Editor.) Sir, — Now that we are assured of a visit from the American fleet, I suggest that his "Worship the Mayor convene a public meeting and a committee of influential citizens be appointed for the purpose of catering for the amusement of our brother countrymen during their stay here. What I propose is a regatta, or an athletic meeting, to be helc 1 . so that the men from the various vessels can compete. lam sure that any movement in this direction would be ably supported not only by every Sports Association here, but in a practical manner by the business people as well. So wake up, young Aucklanders, and let us show our country's guest what hospitality means in God's Own Country.—l am, etc., ERNEST CROSS.
