"I have travelled four thousand milea in less than six weeks," said Sir Joseph when asked by a "Post" reporter concerning his northern trip. There was no picnic about it, he added. It was hard going all the time, and in prooT of that assertion he vouchsafed the statement that m the same period he Bad delivered no less than 212 public speeches of varying degrees of length. Sometimes he made eight speeches a day, but he wassatisfied that a knowledge of the countrywas essential to those who administer the country's affairs, and that could only be acquired by personal observation.
