SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS. The schools championship tennis matches were commenced on the Eden and Ensom lawns on Saturday, and will be completed neit Saturday. Some of the young players shewed particularly promising form. Following were the results:— Boys' Singles.—Frater beat Mowbray, 6—l. 5—6, 6—2; Hill beat Robb, 4—6, 6— i, 6—2; Newell beat Gray, 4—6, 6—4. 6 —2; Siimner beat Miller, 6— i, 6— i; Duthie beat Gorrie, β-o, 6—5. Doubles.—Gorrie and Frater beat Robb and Miller, 6—l, 6—l; Sumaer ana Hill beat Duthie and Mowbray, I—6, 6—i, 9—7. Girls' Singles.—Miss T. Tompkins beat Miss McGeenan, 6—o, 6—2; Miss G. Parry beat Miss McElwain, 6—l, 6—5. Girls' Doubles.—Misses Rogers and T. Tompkins beat Misses Edwards and Clarke, 6—3, 6—2; Misses Pickering and G. Tompkins beat Messrs. Hanan and Hay, 6 —l, 6—l; Misses Rogers and T. Tompkins beat Misses Parry and McElwain. 6—2, 6— 2. Girls' Doubles.—Final: Misses Rogers and T. Tompkins beat Misses Pickering and G. Tompkins, 6—o, 6 — i. EDEN AMD EPSOM LAWN. The courts were very soft, and the play was, consequently, slow. Only handicap matches were played this afternoon. Henry Hesketh (scr.) beat Grossmann (owe 40 3-6), 6— i, 6—4. This was a long and close match, but Hesketh had too many strokes at his disposal; tie served hard, and occasionally drove very vigorously. On Ms form he should certainly get into the final. In the third round of the handicap singles Shirriffs beat Turner. 4—6, 6—l, 6—2.. Billing met Hesketh. but the game was discontinued at set alj on account of the darkness. MEN'S HANDICAP DOUBLES. Grossmann and Cave (owe 15 1-6) beat Turner and Dr. Baruford (owe 30 3-6), 3—6, 6—3,- 6 —l. Turner lobbed well, and Barnford played a sound game, serving especially well, but, as Turner does not volley, the other pair, playing near the net, had the advantage. Grossmann and Cave now meet L. Longuet and Ruddock in the semiflnal. The winning paid will play off with Biss and TV". Brown. MIXED HANDICAP DOUBLES. In the Mixed Handicap Doubles the third round is almost monopolised by one family, and the brothers Hesketh and Misses Hesketh are playing in each of the four pairs left in. The flnal of this event is still very open. ZEALAXDIA WINTER CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Zealandia Lawn Tennis Club was held last Friday, 27th March, 100S, at the Drill. Hall. Dr. Max Ilerz being in the chair. There was a very good muster of members, and the coming season promises to be n successful one. The secretary's report and treasurer's balance-sheet were most favourable. A credit of £14 is at the disposal of the clnb fnr se.ison loos. Mr. O. S. Swlnnock, who has officiated as hon, secretary for a nutabet of years, -was elected an honorary member for the senson and until his return from England. Mr. D. K. The instructions contained in a circular sent out to last year's members are to be replied to within a fortnight, otherwise their names will be struck off the roll, anrl new members elected in their place, as several applications to join are in the hands of the secretary.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. PARSER WINS THE SIXGLES.

ADELAIDE, Sunday. A larije crowri of spectators assembled at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon to witness the finals in the tennis championships and handicap events in the annual tournament of the Sonth Australian Lawn Tennis Association. Play finished shortly before dusk, and but for the fact that Miss Payne, -who was to take part in the ladies' singles, doubles, and mixed doubles championship, sustained a painful injury in the first-named event, the chances are that darkness wonlrl have drawn in before the finals wtre playea. Miss Fayno had started one set with a srame to her credit in the sinjries championship -a-rainst Miss \cldl3or>. wheu, turning suddenly in returning a bell, a tendon in the calf of her lez snapped, which v.-ill render it impossible for her to play tennis for some months to come. 11.
