(By Telegraph.--Own Correspondent.) WAI HI, Saturday. Mr R. Hawk was last night appointefl choirmaster of the Wesley Church. The rainfall at Waihi lor March, so far. has been 20 inches. The highest rainfall was in January of last year, when 25 inches fell. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last night. Mr Mackay, headmaster of the East School, reported that the roll number was 270, and the average attendance 223. It was decided to ask the Board to subsidise £8 in hand for filling in and levelling the playground at the East School. Several eulogistic references were made to the work of the chairman, the Rev. SiiltPr, and it was decided to ascertain if the boundaries could be extended, so that he would be eligible at the next election. It was resolved that the permission of the Board bo asked to allow the annual election to be held in the Miners' Union Hall instead of in the school. The annual cricket social was held last nieut and proved an immense success. Misses C. Whitehouse and J. Truscott officiated as Ms.C, and the music was supplied by Mr Christian and party. A bicycle road race to-day was won by D. Gallic, M. Morgan 2. There has been formed in Waihi a branch of St. Johnls Ambulance Brigade. The brigade consists of twelve certificated members of the Association. A visit from Major Barclay, deputy commissioner of St. John's Ambulance brigade in New Zealand, is ex pected shortly.
