NORTH SHORE FOOTBA-Ii GLBB.
Mr. E. W. Alison, M.P., presided at the annual meeting of the North Shore Football Club,, held last 'night,: and there' was a very large attendance of members. The report and balance sheet, "as published, were adopted. The' Chairman congratulated the club on the large alteudance, and wished,it every success dining tne 'coining season. The rules "recently drawn "up by the AU.ck-. land Rugby Union were the subject-of' considerable discussion: A teeided.. objection was taken to rule i, and the club's delegates "to 'the A.R.TI. were instructed, j.to. vote against it. The accident fund regitlations were approved with the exception of rule 2, which stipulates that unless any player was injured (while playing -in. ..a match) for a. period not extending a full week he was not entitled to the 20/ per week. ' Another clause in this rule - whicK was adversely commented on was -that stipulating that" in flo case shall a player receive payment for a longer period: tHari ten "weeks. A motion against therule being adopted was carried.- - -
The action of the A.R.U. in not presenting" caps" to three, members of the club who had duly earned mem was strongly disapproved, and the folloTTfiig.resolution on the motion of Mr. J. C. Wehster, was carried:—"-That the question of the representative caps be inquired Into by the clreb's-delegates -at the annual meeting of delegates of the A-R.TJ." :; _• . . [~_,~ The seeretlry reported that at the beginning of the year application had been made to the Takapuna Jockey Club for the lease of the racecourse for the purpose of making football giounds, and that he had-received a favourable reply from the committee. The chairman promised to' assist the club in securing the racecourse'for the purpose..Fifteen new members were elected. :

BAND OF HOPE.f The first meeting, for 1908 of the' Devonport Presbyterian Band of Hope' was held on Friday, 27th inst., in the Church Schoolroofm the Rev. I. Bertram, M.A:, in the chair. There was a good' and. an entertaining programme, arranged by Misses Bertram and Stewart was listened to with pleasure. Mi - . Bertram gave a' short temperance address, and at the close invited all present to join. This resulted In a rush of would-be members.and Mr Mitchell and other willing helper*, were kept busy for some time enrolling them. A: meeting was then held to elect officers for the term, which resulted as follows:—President, Rev. I. Bertram; vice-presidents, Messrs. tt. Mitchell and Renshaw; secretary and treasurer, Miss Statham; and committee consisting of Mesdames' Dean and MitcheU, Misses Anderson, Bertram. Cardno, Inglis. Little and Stewart, with Messrs. Anderson, 'A. Cardno, T. C. "Macky, W. Sint'on and Wbolley. -It was resolved to affiliate with the Band of Hope Tinion and that the meetings .Should be held on Rie third Friday In every month except in' April, when it would be held on the 24th lostead-of 17th, also that several competitions slfjiid be .held for k tb.e children during the s</*.,*»ir ""*
