Fully 8000 people attended the massed bands performance in "Victoria Park yes terday. afternoon. The bands taking part were': H.M.S. Challenger's, First A.M.R., Auckland Garrison, First Battalion, and Auckland City. Individual selections were given by the different bands, that of H.M.S. Challenger ("The Turkish Patrol"), receiving an imperative encore. The massed bands, under the baton of Conductor Stewart, gave a very fine rendition of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus," arranged by Conductor Whalley Stewart for brass bands. The performance was organised in aid of the contest fund of the First A.M.R.. Band, and the arrangements were splendidly carried out. A man named Andrew Kelly was admitted to «<e sospiM.l on Saturday evening suffering from a fracture of the frontal bone. Kelly was found lying on a heap of bricks, over which. , it is snpposed, he. tripped. He is progressing satisfactorily.
