The Government steamer Hinemoa returned from the K.ermadec Islands last night, after having landed a party of scientists from New Zealand, who purpose continuing observations in the group for the next twelve months. The Hinemoa also inspected the various depots for castaways and replenished stores where necessary. There was a large quantity of fruit, principally oranges, but in inconvenient places for shipping. Three fatalities have occurred in the Aios, one of the victims being Mr Francis Bergne, son of Sir Henry Bergne, head of the commercial department and examiner ot treaties in the Foreign Office. Mr Bergne met his death by falling over a precipice.
