WAIHI, Friday. There is at present a great demand for houses at Waihi.
Comments are being made regarding the closing of the East End school for two weeks on account of the outbreak of measles, but as tie average attendance was under half, the committee deemed it advisable to close the school in the interests o£ the •health of the children.
I While Mr. H. Moore, carrier, was conveying some furniture across to Waitekaurt this morning, his cart capsized when crossing the Waitekanri stream. Though he aud the owner of the furniture had a cold immersion iv the deep creek, neither of the m sustained anything worse than a dncklngThe horse, too, recovered itself Mr McComish, of the. railway relieving staff, has been placed temporarily in charee of Waikino station, vice Mr Downes, who has been transferred to Hikurangi.
