THE TRAMWAY TROUBLE.
ACTION BY THE UNION.
COMPLICATIONS THREATENED.
The management eununittee of the Tramway Industrial Union of Workers met last night, and decided to ask the City Council to receive a deputation from the motormen eonainctors at -the special meeting of the Corporation called for next Thursday. The arm of the deputation is to lay before the City Counel the respons2£lity of attering the present by-laws so as to allow strap hangers. It is probable that a peculiar complication may' yet arise. The outside local bodies on the eastern circuit, having taken up the stand that the present bylaws should be maintained, have insfcr-nefc-ed Messrs Bnssell and Campbell to prepare by-laws regulating the traffic in their own boroughs. Should these prohibit strap hangers, then a car may be stopped at either Boston-road or Parnell Bridge, and the strap hangers ordered to alight. Supposing they have paid fares through to Onehunga, considerable trouble might arise.
