The Auckland Ladies" Benevolent Soo!ety he'd their annual roeetinz at the YM.r.A. on Tuesday last. Mr N. A. Nathan presided, and there was a goo.i attendance. The annual report, wmca ■α-a* adopted, showed that the average number of rases received monthly was nearrr SO Owe more the society was ohliced to appeal to the citizens of Auckland for help, and a floral fete in aid of the funds realised £593 U/h. This sum. supplemented by the Government subsidy had held out till now. It was proposed to bo!d a monster fete iwst December. The committee b<->pe>l tli.it the day woultl come whra some rich persons would make bequest.', enabling the pncieiy to derive an income of at least £S«JO a year. Mrs Edgeenmbe. after doing good work for the society had left Am-klaud. and the late ilr< Mc-Keah und for many years sacrificed her time ami means to the society. Mr= C M Neison ipresident of the ladies iommiueo bad laboured most zealously in the interests of the society, while Mrs Pritt anil Miss K. Nelson had also done -nfd w.<-k The receipts for 'he year ended March 31 lasJ amounted to £1250 0-2 and the e.vpendrtore to £705.
